Indian Shores - more

Söndag 22 till onsdag 25

The apartment was spacious with a great kitchen.

Malin created a new strawberry-canded almonds-whipped cream-desert -very good!

Nice vew from the balcony over the inland waterways.

At sunrise we watched the dolphins passing downstairs at the pier.

The sunsets were magnificiant.

We visited the Seabird Sanctuary where they rescue ingured birds and also bred brown pelicans and reeleased the young birds when they were ready because they are threatened.

In two of the cages there were birds that were victims of the BP oil spill. After they were cleaned of the oil at the cleaning facilities some of the birds had "long term" rehab issues. The cages were boarded up so we coldn't see those birds because congress had passed a new law that forbid the publics to see those rehab birds. So, we understand why the congress can't work on the defecit or anytjing else.
But we managed to get a picture of a bird that sat on the roof :)

One day we went to Tarpon Springs, a greek town where they pick sponges. Another day St Petersburg and the new Dali Museum. Very interresting! We recommend the guided tour!
One day we went to St Petes Beach historic shopping center and spent lots of time and money. Loveley little stores!

Some long walks of the beach of course, even if it was a bit windy that week.

Indian Shores

Fredag 20 april
Long walk on the beach. Went to the grocery store and bought food and wine for 15 people. Malin had a swim in the Gulf. After a nice dinner we went to 7 eleven to buy cigarettes for Malin and the lady made her day when she asked for ID. And the guy behind in line said "I'll marry her if she shows her ID!"

The hotell is nice with view over the inland waterways.

Some proud birds are willingly posing.
An Anhinga (indian for snake bird) drying his wings.

A Great blue heron looks as he owns the pier.

This afternoon we're washing all used clothes so we have to dress in long sleeves and long pants.

Valhalla Point, Mararhon

måndag 16 april
After three very busy days in Key west we have arrived to the little paradise.
We baught shrimp and cooked on the little grill. Delicious!

While eating we could watch the osprey family on the mangrove island across from us. You see him flapping his wings on top of the highest tree.

tisdag 17 april

Went for a walk on the old seven-mile bridge to the Pidgeon Key. Back and forth is 4 miles. After a light lunch - caprese - we are relaxing under the palm trees.
A nice little canoe trip to the state park across the cove was the afternoon activity.

Then a glass of wine (or two...) before dinner in the sunset livingroom.

The Mahi-Mahi (which in hawaiin means strong-strong) is marinating waiting for the grill.

Cleo is the resident dog. She is old and she knows how to do the high five to get the left overs. She loved the fish.
She's the darling of everybody. All who lives here feeds her.

onsdag 18april

Went to the dolphin rescue center. A canoe trip out to the Atlantic and to the state park across. Then shrimp for dinner again. We are perfecting our receipt. Even more delicious than before.

torsdag 19 april
Packed up our houshold of about 15 people and left for Indian Shores.
Had dinner at Mickey Quinns then relaxed on our balcony and went to bed.

This and that from Key West

Sunday April 15

Arrived friday afternoon. Lucky to find a parkongplace close by.

We went to a pier close to Mallory sqare, sipping margarithas and watching the sunset.
On the way b ack we stopped at a restaurant and had stone crab claws. They were so expensive so we forgot to take a picture.
Next morning we joined a yoga on the beach class.

After that we went to Hemmingway's home and found the sixtoed cats.
We bought some wine made of fruit. Some rain forced us into a lunchrestaurant where we had excellent crabcakes and schrimp.
We went to Mallory square to watch all street entertainers at sunset.

Then we met the guy with the parrot that was very loving.

We fell in love with him.

On the way back we dropped in at a bar with good musik and entertainment.
Today we went for a morningwalk and found the internet cafe so we could update you all.

Southport Raw Bar

Now I'll write in English so all our American friends can read without google translate.

Tonight we went to the Southport Raw Bar were Arvid many years ago sailed straight into the window with his scooner.

Since then, the restaurant has added onto the backporch so now you can no longer reach the window with your boat.

We went there by the watertaxi and looked at all the luxury yachts, some of them more expensive than the mansions around.

Earlier today we walked on the beach, and in a little state park nearby. After all that walking we fixed our lunch at our balcony. Really good!

USA april-maj 2012

Tisdag
