Tucepi fredag 27 maj

today we went to the national parc Krka. Overwhelming!
On the way we made a stop at the little ancient town Trogir, again protected by Unesco. Here we also listened to some a capella singers. The a capella singing here is also protected by Unesco! It started when young boys were to serenade their sweethearts and were to shy to sing alone so a small group would gather and sing together and the acoustics in the narrow allys were terrific.
From there we went to Krka. As we said this place was overwhelming! It's a river that makes all kinds of waterfalls running every which way. A wooden trail made it possible to walk through this water landscape. A hydroelectric powerplant opened here second in the world only two days after the powerplant i the Niagra falls. But this river is so clean that it's used as the norm for classifying water purity in rivers.  So this one has the value 100%.

Croatia has exceeded all our expectations. The country is so beautiful, the history in many ways is so tortured, they have been under someone elses regim except from around 900-1300 and from 1995.
But they seem fearsly patriotic but as we are told over and over they don't trust their governement.
High unemployment, lacking social services. But they are working on it and look forward.

Tucepi thursday 26 may

Tuesday we went on an excursion to Zadvarje where a 300 years old market is still going strong, in spite of the rain. We bought bread protected by unesco! It was two thin pieces of bread with mangold in between  - very good! Besides vegetables and bread you could have bought a pig or a cow.
Then to the pirate-city Omis that is at the mouth of a river were we took a boat to a tipical Dalmation village for lunch. It was very beautiful.
Wednesday we climbed the mountins again and now Ulla didn't wine at all! Until the lunchbreak at the toprestaurant, where the housecat decided that Ullas lap was the best. Of course she chased IT away before I had time to take a picture.
Today we went on a trip to a wineyard tasting some good wines.
We have to go to bed early tonight since we're leaving for the nationalpark Krka at the crack of dawn.
Pictures will be uploded to Facebook.

Tucipi monday 23 may

we arrived in Tucipi midday on saturday. We have a small apartment with kitchen and separate rooms. We have a balcony with a wonderful view over the  Sea. The city is only 2 km long with a nice promenade along the shore.
Sunday we went climbing the mountins. It was up, up, up and Ulla was wining a lot. We had lunch in a little village with great view before heading back.
We went to an "inspiration meeting" arranged by our travel agent, but IT was anything but inspirational. After that we had dinner at the Olive Tree, a nice little restaurant near us. The waiter brought his own glass to taste the wine before serving us! He became more and more witty with everybodys wine that he tasted. The food, lamb chops, and wine was very good.
Today we walked along the shore to the next village, Podgora. We walk a couple of km, stop for coffee, walk a couple of km, stop for a glass of wine and so on. Life is easy.
Now we relax on the balcony with strawberries.

Split - sista dagen på kryssningen 20 maj

After Korcula we went on to Dubrovnic. An ancient and amazing city so steeped in history starting before christ but there are no documentation, only ancdots from that time.
At any rate there were 37 churches for the 4000 inhabitants, and hidden away one synagouge.
There were many watersprings but only for the christians. The jewes had only one small well.
We walked the citywall that surrounded the old town, built to guard the various enemies over the years.
Next day we went on to the island Mljet (means honey) were there is a national park including an old monestary. The place was like paradise and the weather was wonderful.
Following day (thursday 19:th) we went on to Hvar wich is a large island known for lavendel, salt and being a partyplace. It was quite windy and we spent the tour laying down with closed eyes to keep the seasickness at bay.
Once docked things improved and we climbed the mountin to inspect a fort.
Now we're back at Split where we started. We will now go for a citywalk and tomorrow morning we will be pricked up and taken to our next destination, Tucip.
This blogger still makes trouble with pictures. I'll upload them to Facebook.

Korcula 16 maj

we arrived in Split, Croatia, at 9 o'clock at night and were taken by bus to the cruise ship Aphrodita. The chef had kept dinner Warm for us and after that we went to bed. First stop on Sunday was on the island Brac, known for its limestone. Then we went on to Makarska, the main city on this riviera. The  entertainment for the night was a trip up into the mountins to a typical Dalmation village were we had a wonderful dinner, lots of wine and great musical entertainment.
On board we get breakfast and lunch every day, local and very tasty. We leave the dock around 8 in the morning, stop an hour for swimming (or just sunbathing!) and then go on for an hour or two and ancor for the night in a little city. We are only 13 passengers, German and Brittish and us, so its easy to get to know everyone.
The weather the first wasn't that good but today we have sunshine and it's going o be like this and warmer the rest of the stay.
This evenings entertainment will be marinated anchovies hosted by the crew and then we will watch some religious procession that will take place in this city tonight.
There are several cruisingships that take the same route and the ships ancor outside one another every night. Tonight we got a ship full of youngsters outside our ship. They are very noisy and will have to pass through our ship to get ashore/onboard. Looking forward to a fun night!
We can't uppload any pictures for some reason that I can't figure out.
I see now there is a bug in the pictures-uppload.

Landsort 9-11 maj

Arrived monday to absolutely spectacular weather with sun from a clearblue sky and 75 degrees.
Unheard of in Swedish archipelago in early may. Plenty of kanons remains from worldwar II. During the Cold war the Swedes made great and soffisticated  preparations to defend from the russians.
Ten years later Russia collapsed and the ellaborate defenses were no longer necessary.

The nature is tipical for the outer archipelago. Yesterday we walked to the south end where the lighthouse is. There are three harbours and the Waxholmsboat chooses harbour depending on the wind. Both harbours were very narrow. We are impressed with the captains navigational ability!

We stay in a small cottage up on a hill with all comforts we could need. We had to bring all food though - and wine! - since there is no stores on the island.
We're now back at home, very tired and we're going to bed early..
